Der Komponist J. B. de Boismortier (1682-1765) hat den Spielern der Querflöte viele Werke gewidmet. Er schrieb zahlreiche Sonaten für zwei Flöten und Sonaten für Flöte und Generalbaß, aber auchZyklen von Sonaten für drei Flöten ohne Baß und mit Baß sowie Konzerte für fünf Flöten. Der Komponist lebte in der ersten Blütezeit der Flötenmusik, als das Instrument von vielenLiebhabern bevorzugt wurde, die immer wieder neue Werke suchten. In diesem Werk für die Anfänger des Flötenspiels bringt der Komponist nur Beispiele in den zu seiner Zeit auf der Flöte spielbaren Tonarten.Diesefolgen abwechselnd beiden Richtungen des Quintenzirkels, sodass von C-Dur aus die Vorzeichen schrittweise anwachsen. Damit ist dieses Werk sowohl eine Einführung in das Lesen und Verstehen der Tonarten, als auch eineinzigartiges Werk im Bereich der für den Unterricht gedachten Musik für Melodieinstrumente.

Sonata in C minor

Martino Bitti wrote numerous sonatas for violin and basso continuo, as well as pieces for flute and oboe and several compositions for harpsichord. This C minor oboe sonata in four movements appears to have been preserved solely inmanuscript form and appears here in print for the first time.The edition is part of the ABRSM syllabus (grade 6)

Sonata No. 1 C Major

A large number of works by the Italian cellist Giovanni Battista Cirri (1724-1808) were published during his life. The Sonata in C Major is ideal for the progressing student. The accompanying bass part has deliberately been turnedinto a simple piano part so that it can also be played by pupils.

Sophia Giustani Dussek's Opus 2 consists of two books of three sonatas each for the harp. The Sonata in C Minor appears in the first book, published by Pleyel in Paris in 1796. In the Pleyel edition, the composer's first name wasnot mentioned, so the sonatas were falsely ascribed to Johann Ludwig Dussek, who was quite well known in Paris at this time (cf. RISM, D 4605). In the Thematic index of the works of J.L. Dussek by Howard Craw, Opus 2 is given asa set of 4 violin sonatas. An edition of the harp sonatas published by Corri, Dussek & Co. in London and Edinburgh is ascribed to Sophia Dussek (cf. RISM, D 4649). This new edition of the sonata published by Schott has beencorrected.

Sonate C Op.1/10

Little is known about the life of Italian composer Pietro Giuseppe Gaetana Boni, so it is fortunate that at least some of his music survives. His 1917 work, the tenth of his chamber sonatas, Sonata in C for Cello and BassoContinuo Op.1 No.10 has been edited by Hugo Ruf and the Cello fingering by Rainer Mohrs, to create an authentic and accurate reproduction of this fine work.
