This jazzy ragtime song has only whole, half, and quarter notes. It is a great song to hand out early on. It is easy and sounds great. The title of this composition comes from the idea of having a very energetic composition with contrasting melodies. One can hear melodies, countermelodies, and rhythmic juxtapositions throughout this work. It is meant to be fun for both audience and musician. Legend of the Kelpies

A Kelpie is a Scottish mythical creature often seen in the shape of a horse. It is a shape shifter that can change forms. It is a legend often told to keep young children away from the lakes and rivers. The composition starts slowly in a minor key, moving to the middle section in major with a faster tempo and easy syncopation, returning to minor and the slower tempo. This is ideal for teaching students to learn to listen to each other and know when to bring out the melody. The 1st trumpet's highest note is F.
