This anthem was composed for the service of thanksgiving for a Civil Partnership in June 2011. In looking for a suitable text the composer turned to Elizabeth Barrett Browning (1806–61), one of whose sonnets he had usedfor another wedding anthem (Love is beautiful indeed) a few years earlier. As the title suggests, this highly expressive text puts into words the intense feeling of love and the mostly homophonic music reflects that throughluscious harmonies and beautifully shaped phrases. Suitable for intermediate choirs, this setting of a popular wedding text is a joy for both performers and audience.

Friday Afternoons Op.7

A series of twelve songs with piano for children composed by Benjamin Britten between May 1933 and August 1934. Published as Friday Afternoons, Op.7, they were written for his brother Robert's preparatory school at Prestatyn, where the singing classes took place on Fridays.The edition is part of the ABRSM syllabus (grade 4).

Commissioned by the 2012 ACDA Women's Choir R&S Commissioning Consortium, the entire piece drives toward the last line of the Stacy Gnall poem “big brother, I am catching up to you.” One long, rhythmic race, this selection will be a wonderful contrast to much of the repertoire often included in women's choral concerts.

The Rose Tree

The Rose Tree is a setting of the poem Envy by brother and sister poets Charles and Mary Lamb. The poem is a beautiful affirmation that each of us has a unique contribution to make to the world.
