Pittosporum Tobira Nanum (Dwarf Japanese Mock Orange) – Ball

Pittosporum Tobira Nanum (Dwarf Japanese Mock Orange) – Ball

Pittosporum Tobira 'Nanum' (Dwarf Japanese Mock Orange) – Ball is a compact, evergreen shrub known for its dense, rounded form and fragrant white flowers. 'Nanum' is a dwarf variety of the Pittosporum tobira, growing to about 2–3 feet (60–90 cm) tall and wide. It forms a compact, ball-shaped mound, making it an excellent choice for low hedges, border plantings, or as a decorative topiary. The leaves are glossy, dark green, and leathery in texture, creating a dense, tidy appearance. The foliage is smaller than the typical Pittosporum tobira, contributing to its more compact form. In late spring to early summer, 'Nanum' produces small, fragrant, white flowers that resemble orange blossoms, giving the plant its common name "Mock Orange." The flowers have a sweet, citrus-like fragrance, attracting pollinators like bees and butterflies. The plant is slow-growing and maintains its compact shape with little pruning. It can be used to create formal, rounded shapes, or left to grow naturally. Ligustrum Jonandrum (Lollipop Privet) – Standard Ball

Ligustrum Jonandrum (Lollipop Privet) – Standard Ball

The Privet, also known as the Ligustrum, starts its tale from Asia, eventually extending into Australia and Europe. The actual plant is used as a street tree in Europe and has an interesting history in that it became very popular as a street ornament in Britain during WWII when the government started to requisition post-1850 iron gates and railings to be turned into ammunition for the war effort. The plant itself is semi-evergreen and is a very bushy shrub although this variant grows into a lovely lollipop shape hence its other name, ‘Lollipop Privet’. It produces abundant creamy white flowers with a rather unusual scent in late summer and small, black berries in autumn. It needs regular watering three times a week. The Hardiness rating is H6, meaning that it is perfect for the UK climate. Privet grows rapidly and needs clipping every two to three weeks in the summer months. Growth slows down and stops in September, after which the shrub will retain its shape until next spring .All parts of the plant are toxic and may cause severe discomfort if eaten. The soil needs to be well drained and a full sun or partial shade is recommended. Photinia x Fraseri Red Robin (Christmas Berry Red Robin) - Standard

Photinia x Fraseri Red Robin (Christmas Berry Red Robin) - Standard

Photinia x Fraseri Red Robin, also known as Photinia Serrulata Red Robin or occasionally the Christmas Berry, is a group of evergreen shrubs grown specifically for glossy, dark green adult foliage, white flowers and brilliant red tinted young leaves; in the spring, they unfold to give a stunning display. The best known of the photinias is Photinia Red Robin, which is often planted as a specimen shrub or as a dense, evergreen hedge. A Christmas Berry Red Robin puts on a show all year round, with white springtime flowers and new leaves that start out as a vibrant red, before darkening to a glossy green as they age. These bright colours are popular with wildlife, but due to its loose branch structure, birds are unlikely to choose the Red Robin as a nesting location (which is ironic). Christmas Berry Red Robins are an excellent choice for creating interesting hedges and borders. White Pine (Pinus Pentaphylla) Japanese Style

White Pine (Pinus Pentaphylla) Japanese Style

A wonderful collection of White Pine Bosai Trees, with bluey-green needles arranged into graceful crowns. At over 30 years old, our range of Japanese White Pine Bonsai Trees have been dutifully cared for by our expert growers and now they are ready to take pride of place in your garden. One of the old favourites for bonsai parenting, white pine has an enchanting appearance – its smooth blueish green pine needles, contrast beautifully against the tree’s rough grey bark which curves and twists as it ages. All of our Japanese White Pine Bonsai Trees have so much character and charm, that they’d easily be at home in a child’s fairytale. These styles of Japanese White Pine Bonsai Trees are well-developed, but you’ll still have a few decades to enjoy their beauty before they reach maturity at around age 60. Originally from the mountains of Japan, they are resilient to the British climate, and should only be protected during periods of extreme of hot and cold. They will look stunning in any open space and create regular interest as they continue their irregular growth habit. Additionally, their cones sometimes stay on the branches for many years and their flower buds and needle clumps have a very pleasant aroma. Our Premium Bonsai Plants have been specially sculpted to form distinctive shapes. This growth-training is a process that can take over 30 years to create trees of this size. This care and attention becomes entwined with the plant itself – giving them a genuine “wow factor” and making them a favourite talking point with everyone who sees them. A Premium Bonsai Plant can help to create an atmosphere of luxury, sophistication and dedication in your garden, workplace, office atrium or shopping centre. Traditionally described as “unique”, this is no longer entirely true – thanks to the expert growers here at GardenPlantsOnline, it is now possible to produce bonsai plants with similar shapes by seeding them at the same time and growing them under the same conditions. This consistency of shape gives you the chance to create magnificently symmetrical designs, such as creating several water features with matching bonsai trees, or bookending both sides of a doorway or entrance foyer.
