G'Vine Nouaison Gin 70cl
G'Vine Nouaison Gin Introduced in 2008, Nouaison is a variation on its brother Floraison. Whilst using the same ten botanicals you find in Floraison, the taste is quite different. Whilst it shares some nuances, the blending is done differently, and the alcohol content is slightly higher. As mentioned, the botanicals remain the same: juniper, grape flowers, cardamom, cassia, coriander, cubeb pepper, ginger, licorice, lime and nutmeg. The first thing you will notice with this gin is that on the nose the floral side takes more of a back note. The juniper and spice are stronger, but the citrus remains. On the palate, it is a drier gin, with more of the piney juniper and the warmth form the spices are stronger here. The floral notes are still present, but in this iteration, they take a supporting role and can be enjoyed in the background. The finish is long, with the spices lingering leaving a delicious warmth. Interesting fact? Nousain translates as the stage between flowering, and the berry (or grape) being formed. Fill a large glass with ice and pour in 50ml of the gin. Add 150ml of tonic (we like this one with East Imperial Tonic Water) and stir gently. Garnish simply with a slice of lime.
