Clover Lucky No. 4 Gin 50cl

Clover Lucky No. 4 Gin 50cl

Clover Lucky No. 4 Gin Launched in 2017, and made in Belgium, Clover Lucky N°4 is a more citrus take on the original Clover. It's made with locally grown and sourced ingredients, and they are proud that this is an original and Belgian product. The three leaves of the Clover represent a number of things with this gin. The three sisters who own the company, and their memories of childhood running through clover strewn meadows. Their mother (a botanist), instilled in them a knowledge of herbs, flowers and spices - which sparked a love for all things flora. This knowledge and passion comes through in their products as well. The initial aroma of this gin is perfumed with a delicate herbalness to it. When mixed with tonic, the initial perfume hit is lessened, allowing more of the herbal notes to come through. The taste is delicate too (and makes this a very easy to drink Gin!), with green tea and cardamom perfectly balanced with citrus notes from bergamot (a type of bitter orange crossed with lemon) and clementine.  Being a slightly higher alcohol percentage (44%), it might be thought that this would be a harsher gin than the original Clover, however this is definitely not the case. A light herbal profile comes through at first taste, which develops into the more citrus notes. This doesn't make this a strongly citrus (or sweet) gin, but rather adds a freshness and lightness to the drink. There is the mild hint of green tea throughout the gin, which works well at bringing it together as a whole. The end is delicate again, yet somehow also rich and warming (definitely not harsh though). Interestingly, the juniper notes in this gin are present, but not in any way overpowering, and more as a hint at a background taste. To this end, if may not be one for those who really like the juniper, pine and woody notes of a more classic gin.  This is a really easy gin to drink, especially for those new to the world of gin. The taste is subtle, and can easily be enjoyed without any of the flavours fighting on the tastebuds. Definitely one we would recommend trying as its very unique! Read more about Clover Perfect Serve This is one of the most pleasant, and easy to drink gins we have tried. It's delicate profile means this really is easy to drink neat over ice (maybe a little too easy though... so watch how quickly the bottle goes down!). However, it's definitely worth trying mixed with a neutral tonic such as Three Cents Tonic Water. This really is a delicate gin family as a whole, and any of the flavoured gins could easily overpower what is already a delicious drink! In a good sized glass with plenty of ice, mix 50ml of the gin with 150ml of your chosen tonic. Garnish with a slice of grapefruit (which enhances the citrus profile of the gin), and a sprig of rosemary (which heightens the herbal notes).

They use traditional techniques which capture the pure essence of the Mediterranean region through delicate maceration and skilfull distillation. Every bottle of Gin Mare is unique. Using their star ingredient (the arbequina olive) the acidity levels fluctuate each year. Made at the Gin Mare distillery, a thirteenth century chapel located in an ancient fishing village between the Costa Brava and the Costa Dorada, skilfull distillation turns this gin into a culinary work of art. Created using Spanish olives as the star ingredient, Gin Mare goes much further. They also utilise a variety of other botanicals from the Mediterranean region. Rosemary from Greece, Thyme from Turkey, Basil from Italy, Oranges from Valencia and Seville (Spain), Lemons form Seville, as well as juniper, coriander and green cardamom. The aromatic profile of Gin Mare is remarkably different to other Gins, but it doesnt lose its roots. It has a herbal, almost floral notes on the nose with a hint of berry fruits. Jim Beam Double Oak Bourbon Whiskey 70cl

Jim Beam Double Oak Bourbon Whiskey 70cl

Jim Beam Double Oak Bourbon Whiskey First created in 1795, seven generations of the Beam family have now been crafting their Bourbon. Keeping their family values within which they were founded, they age their Bourbon twice as long as the law requires, imparting a special flavour. It's this dedication to quality that has made Jim Beam the world's number 1 Bourbon. For their Double Oak edition Jim Beam add a second stage to their aging. After the traditional 4-year aging process they tranfer the bourbon to freshly charred American White Oak barrels. This is then aged to taste. It is this second barreling which ensures an even deeper level of intense, spiced oakiness in the bourbon. The aroma of this Bourbon is rich, with notes of caramel and vanilla. This is rounded out by smoky toasted wood. The flavour is packed with intense caramel and toffee, along with a distinctive spiced oakiness (as you might expect from the name).  More from Jim Beam Perfect Serve We love this served simply with a single large cube of ice. However, in the words of their Master Distiller, drink it "Any Damn Way You Please". For a delicious Double Oak Old Fashioned Cocktail, take a mixing glass and fill with ice. Add 50ml of the Double Oak Bourbon, 4 dashes of bitters and 2 sugar cubes. Stir until the sugar cubes have melted, and strain into an old fashioned glass with a large ice cube in it. Squeeze the zest of an orange and lemon over the glass, and use as garnish.

Bareksten Botanical Gin 70cl

Bareksten Botanical Gin 70cl

Bareksten Botanical Gin Produced by Oss Craft Distillery in Norway, Bareksten Botanical Gin has been made to represent the true essence of Norway. It is dark, wild, breathtaking and dramatic in the look of the bottle, the aromas as you open it, and the taste when you drink it.  Bareksten takes its inspiration from the Norwegian Forests. The long days of sunlight in the summer, combined with ample rain and warm weather ensure perfect growing conditions for a number of herbs and berries. These Nordic, natural and organic herbs, potatoes and berries form the basis for the unique flavour of Bareksten. In fact, 26 different botanicals are used in the production, 18 of which are locally sourced - growing around the distillery itself. Wild blueberries, lingonberries, rhubarb, and elderflower are just some of the botanicals found in Bareksten. The aroma of this reminds of the forest, earthy, slightly oak like, along with the pine like smell of classic juniper. The taste takes you on a true journey journey of flavours. It's a potent gin, with a sublime and fruity expression. Classic gin notes of citrus and juniper evoke something known and comforting, yet the additional botanicals take you on a taste journey through the Norwegian wilderness. Slight sweetness from berries, warming earthy notes, yet this isn't a heavy drink. It's extremely refreshing, and one you will come back to time after time. Read more about Bareksten Perfect Serve This is definitely best served with a neutral tonic such as Fentimans Connoisseurs Tonic Water. Take a large glass filled with plenty of ice, and add 50ml of the gin. Pour over 150ml of the tonic, and stir gently. Finish off with a garnish of a slice of orange, or a few blueberries (frozen work really well). It also works exeptionally well in the mix, in particular in a classic Martini.

Dik & Schil Palomacello 50cl

Dik & Schil Palomacello 50cl

Dik & Schil Palomacello What started as a university project for 3 students, has developed into Dik&Schil, a flourishing business with sustainability at its core. Their tasty drinks give a second life to the leftover coffee grounds and orange peels from the hospitality industry that would usually end up in the bin. ‘ ‘We want to show that sustainability can also be fun and that circularity can lead to fantastic products’’ – They have definitely achieved that. It’s not just waste orange peels that Dik&Schil give new life to. This delicious and limited edition liqueur is made using waste grapefruit peels and rhubarb remains, both of which are leftover during the making of the Paloma cocktail. Dik&Schil Palomacello is a tantalising taste experience with a mix of sweet and sour from the rhubarb, and bitterness from the grapefruit peel. The fruity aroma invites you to taste. On the palate, you will first be greeted by the sweetness of rhubarb, followed by zingy grapefruit – a flavour that builds in your mouth as you continue to enjoy your drink. More from Dik & Schil Perfect Serve Palomacello is made using the same traditional method as limoncello, making it perfect to sip neat when ice cold. For a refreshing drink, mix 50ml Palomacello with 150ml tonic water (we like to mix with Lobsters Tonic) and add a grapefruit slice to garnish. Palomacello is also delicious in a cocktail, and if you are a fan of Citrus, the Citrus party is for you. Add 30ml each of Palomacello, Orangecello (Dik&Schil), Limoncello (The Lemon Spirit is a great choice) and fresh lime juice into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into a chilled glass. Burn a sprig of rosemary and run it around the rim of the glass for a savoury twist and garnish with dried citrus fruit.

Whitley Neill Original Gin Queen's Platinum Jubilee Edition 70cl

Whitley Neill Original Gin Queen's Platinum Jubilee Edition 70cl

Whitley Neill Original Gin Queen's Platinum Jubilee Edition This is a limited edition bottling of the Original Whitley Neill Gin. Created in celebration of the British Monarch's Platinum Jubilee in 2022. Created by an award winning distiller, from a family with a long history of creating spirits dating back to 1762, you can be sure this is a gin which has earned its place as the UK’s number one premium gin. Inspired by his family’s adventurous spirit, Johnny Neill (8th generation) wanted to create his own signature blend. He didn’t want to just pay tribute to his family’s distilling heritage though, but also pay homage to the beauty of his wife’s African homeland. This led to Whitley Neill (Original) Handcrafted Dry Gin. It’s a distinctive gin, uniquely different from your ‘standard’ gin, but one which still takes the classic gin botanicals (juniper, coriander seed, cassia bark, orris root, sweet orange, lemon and angelica root) and blends these perfectly with exotic African botanicals (cape gooseberry and baobab). The result is a gin with a flavour as unique as the heritage behind it. It’s a softer gin than you might expect. It has rich notes of juniper and citrus as you would expect in a premium gin, but it is enhanced with an aroma of exotic spices, and an almost pot pourri essence. The finish is long, with a subtle herbal note, cocoa and a definite candied lemon peel flavour. The aroma is citrus like, slightly sweet yet with a hint of pepper, and distinctive floral notes. This is a gin which moves forward… it doesn’t hide from its heritage. It embraces it, and brings something extra along too. Smooth, sensuous almost – this is a gin you will truly enjoy. Read more about Whitley Neill Perfect Serve We’d encourage you to try this gin first with a neutral tonic, such as Fentimans Connoisseurs Tonic, to really appreciate its smooth delicious flavour. Plenty of ice and garnish with a slice of orange.
