Rainsmart Ellipse Triple 5 Cubic Metre Soakaway

Rainsmart Ellipse Triple 5 Cubic Metre Soakaway

Our 5 cubic metre triple soakaway system comes flat-packed and with enough geotextile membrane to wrap all outer layers of the system. You will need 15 triple crates which we would recommend laying 5 crates wide by 3 crates long. This will give you a complete soakaway of 2m (W) x 2.145m (L) x 1.28m (D).A rubber mallet for assembly and a number of cable ties will also be included to join the crates together and to clamp the membrane around your pipe entry points.Assembly of this set really is a quick and easy process.Full instructions are included and you can view a quick video on assembling flat-packed soakaways below. For our triple crate, you just need to add another layer of small plates on top of the double crate as you do to convert the shallow into a double.andnbsp;Size, load and capacityThe dimensions of the complete soakaway are 2m (W) x 2.145m (L) x 1.28m (D)Rainsmart soakaway crates have a void ratio of 95% - this is the amount of free space within the crate structure that can be used for rainwater storage. The capacity of this 5 cubic metre soakaway is an impressive 5,491 Litres. The vertical crush load capacity of 24.2 tonnes per square metre ensures that the Rainsmart Ellipse crates are safe to be used beneath gardens, pedestrian and low-speed traffic areas. The lateral crush load of 18 tonnes per square metre is the best of any type of soakaway crate currently available in the UK.Joining crates togetherClips are not required to hold the crates together. No clips on any crate system are structural it is always the side fill on any soakaway installation which adds the stability needed to hold the structure in place. Cable Ties are included with our 5m Soakaway Sets and these are used to connect two sides of the complete soakaway together in an L formation (the others are jammed into this corner). These ties are used purely to hold the crates in place until the sand or gravel side fill has been added.Inspection andamp; CleaningFor best practice, we always recommend that a pre-filter such as ourandnbsp;SiltGuard Silt Trap is used in conjunction with any modular soakaway system. Emptying the filter on a regular basis (this is only a five-minute job) will maintain the efficiency of the soakaway and greatly increase its lifespan. All outward-facing crate surfaces of any soakaway should be wrapped in a non-woven geotextile membrane, which allows the free passage of water but prevents any soil or sand particles from entering the soakaway, maintaining its long term efficiency.Flow Control with AttenuationWith the increase in emphasis on SuDS local planning authorities and specifiers are implementing flow control systems to prevent flooding. Through attenuation, rainwater is released back into the network, but in order to ensure you arenand#039;t passing any potential issues downstream this is done so at a controlled speed. Check out our Flow Controls page for more information about Orifice Chambers andamp; Valves.Connecting Pipes to SoakawaysThe 110mm (or 160mm) drainage pipe is fed into the soakaway via the entry plate. Geotextile membrane should be installed over the opening first and then a small cross should be cut in the membrane at the entry point with a sharp knife. Carefully peel back the membrane, insert the pipe and tape or clamp the membrane tightly around the outside of the pipe to stop the ingress of any soil particles. For a closer look at Soakaway Crates in generalandnbsp;please take a look at our introductory video.

Rainsmart Ellipse Soakaway Set Flat-Packed with Silt Trap andamp; Lid 1 Cubic Metre

Rainsmart Ellipse Soakaway Set Flat-Packed with Silt Trap andamp; Lid 1 Cubic Metre

This soakaway set is comprised of four Rainsmart Ellipse Soakaway Crates (24.2 tonne vertical load capacity) and sufficient non-woven geotextile membrane to wrap all outward faces of the soakaway including the base. The set also includes cable ties for holding the crates together until the side fill has been introduced, and a rubber mallet for easy assembly.Additionally, the set contains a Sentinel Silt Trap C/W Catchpit and Filter to filter out sediments and allow a clean flow of water into the soakaway, as well as a 300mm Square Manhole Cover and Frame.Assembly of this set really is a quick and easy process taking around 10-12 minutes in total and the self-assembly set represents excellent value for money - it is around £30 plus VAT cheaper than the fully assembled option.Full instructions are included and you can view a quick video on assembling flat-packed soakaways below.  The dimensions of the complete soakaway are 1430mm (L) x 800mm (W) x 860mm (D)Rainsmart soakaway crates have a void ratio of 95% - this is the amount of free space within the crate structure that can be used for rainwater storage. The capacity of this 1 cubic metre soakaway is an impressive 935 Litres. Under normal conditions this would be sufficient to hold water from a roof area of approximately 50 square metres. The vertical crush load capacity of 24.2 tonnes per square metre ensures that the Rainsmart Ellipse crates are safe to be used beneath gardens and pedestrian areas. The lateral crush load of 18 tonnes per square metre is the best of any type of soakaway crate currently available in the UK.Clips are not required to hold the crates together. No clips on any crate system are structural it is always the side fill on any soakaway installation which adds the stability needed to hold the structure in place.  Cable Ties are included with our 1m³ Soakaway Sets and these are used purely to hold the crates in place until the sand or gravel side fill has been added. The Sentinel Silt Trap system ensures longevity of the soakway system - removing 99% of the silt and sand that would potentially end up in the system from surface areas. Emptying the filter on a regular basis (this is only a five minute job) will maintain the efficiency of the soakaway and greatly increase its lifespan. All outward facing crate surfaces of any soakaway should be wrapped in non-woven geotextile membrane, which allows the free passage of water but prevents any soil or sand particles from entering the soakaway, maintaining its long term efficiency. The 110mm (or 160mm) drainage pipe is fed into the soakaway via one of the four circular 160mm open entry points. 110mm pipes simply rest on the bottom of this opening and we recommend that the pipe is inserted approximately 300mm inside the crate. As all four crates making up the soakaway set have a pipe entry plate, you should ensure that the three that are not being used face inside the soakaway as opposed to facing outwards this makes it easier to wrap the geotextile around the outside of the structure. Pipe entry points do not affect the structural integrity of the soakaway in any way.For a closer look at Soakaway Crates in general please take a look at our detailed video.

Rainsmart Soakaway Set Shallow for Heavier Soils Flat-Packed 1 Cubic Metre

Rainsmart Soakaway Set Shallow for Heavier Soils Flat-Packed 1 Cubic Metre

This soakaway set is ideal for use in heavier soils where there is a higher than average table or where the site condition suit a shallower soakaway installation. The soakaway is comprised of eight single Rainsmart Ellipse Soakaway Crates (24.2 tonne vertical load capacity) laid out in a table style with a covering of 3.6m x 2m x 30mm Nero drainage cells sitting above the crates. The kit includes sufficient non-woven geotextile membrane to wrap all outward faces of the soakaway including the base and the drainage cells above. Also included are cable ties for holding the crates together until the side fill has been introduced. As this kit is only  available in a flat pack option we also include a rubber mallet in the kit for assembling the crates. You can view a quick video on assembling flat packed soakaways here. Its a quick and simple process that should take no longer than 10-12 minutes for the whole cubic metre set.Size, load and capacityThe dimensions of the complete soakaway are;Main Soakaway Body - 1600mm (L) x 14300mm (W) x 440mm (D)Drainage Cells Above - 3600mm (L) x 2000mm (W) x 30mm (D)All Rainsmart soakaway crates have a void ratio of 95% - this is the amount of free space within the crate structure that can be used for rainwater storage. The capacity of this soakaway is 1022 Litres. Under normal soil conditions this would be sufficient to hold water from a roof area of approximately 50 square metres. The vertical crush load capacity of 24.2 tonnes per square metre ensures that the Rainsmart Ellipse crates are safe to be used beneath gardens and pedestrian areas. The lateral crush load of 18 tonnes per square metre is the best of any type of soakaway crate currently available in the UK.The science bitHeavier soils hold rainwater within the soil particles for longer, slowing down the infiltration rate. This means that in heavy rainfall conditions the soakaway void will fill up quicker than normal. By introducing a layer of 30mm cells laid our in a table style above the soakaway crates, the soil contact area for infiltration is greatly increased  - the 30mm cells have a surface contact area that is over three times the size of the soakaway body.Note though that soils that are comprised completely of clay are not generally suitable for soakaways, due to the infiltration rate being so slow. If in doubt we recommend that you carry out a soil percolation test.Joining crates togetherClips are not required to hold the crates together. No clips on any crate system are structural it is always the side fill on any soakaway installation which adds the stability needed to hold the structure in place.  Cable Ties are included with our 1m³ Soakaway Sets and these are used purely to hold the crates in place until the sand or gravel side fill has been added. All outward facing crate surfaces of any soakaway or drainage cell should be wrapped in non-woven geotextile membrane (supplied), which allows the free passage of water but prevents any soil or sand particles from entering the soakaway, maintaining its long term efficiency.Connecting Pipes to SoakawaysThe 110mm (or 160mm) drainage pipe is fed into the main soakaway body via one of the four circular 160mm open entry points. 110mm pipes simply rest on the bottom of this opening and we recommend that the pipe is inserted approximately 150mm inside the crate. Pipe entry points do not affect the structural integrity of the soakaway in any way.Consider a pre-filterFor best practice we always recommend that a pre-filter such as our Sentinel Silt Trap is used in conjunction with any modular soakaway system.  Emptying the filter on a regular basis (this is only a five minute job) will maintain the efficiency of the soakaway and greatly increase its lifespan. For a closer look at Soakaway Crates in general, including installation tips, please take a look at our detailed introductory video.
