Advanced Perl Programming - William "bo" Rothwell - Bog - APress - Plusbog.dk

William "Bo" Rothwell''s Advanced Perl Programming continues where his previous book left off, more or less, as it guides you through advanced techniques of the Perl programming language starting with command-line options, references, and arrays and hashes from advanced data types. Next, you''ll learn about typeglobs for symbolic entries. Additionally, you''ll see advanced subroutine handling, then packages and namespaces. Communicating Mobility and Technology - Ehren Helmut (oregon State University Pflugfelder - Bog - Taylor & Francis Ltd - Plusbog.dk

Winner of the 2018 CCCC Technical and Scientific Communication Award in the category of Best Book in Technical or Scientific Communication Responding to the effects of human mobility and crises such as depleting oil supplies, Ehren Helmut Pflugfelder turns specifically to automobility, a term used to describe the kinds of mobility afforded by autonomous, automobile-based movement technologies and their ramifications. Thus far, few studies in technical communication have explored the development of mobility technologies, the immense power that highly structured, environmentally significant systems have in the world, or the human-machine interactions that take place in such activities. Applying kinaesthetic rhetoric, a rhetoric that is sensitive to and developed from the mobile, material context of these technologies, Pflugfelder looks at transportation projects such as electric taxi cabs from the turn of the century to modern day, open-source vehicle projects, and a large case study of an autonomous, electric pod car network that ultimately failed. Kinaesthetic rhetoric illuminates how mobility technologies have always been persuasive wherever and whenever linguistic symbol systems and material interactions enroll us, often unconsciously, into regimes of movement and ways of experiencing the world. As Pflugfelder shows, mobility technologies involve networks of sustained arguments that are as durable as the bonds between the actors in their networks.

Kubernetes Everywhere - Christopher Negus - Bog - Pearson Education (US) - Plusbog.dk

Kubernetes Everywhere - Christopher Negus - Bog - Pearson Education (US) - Plusbog.dk

As the mass migration to containerize software applications continues, Kubernetes has overwhelmingly become the platform to run those applications. Cloud providers like AWS, Google, and Microsoft bundle complex Kubernetes services to make it easier to deploy and scale applications. On-premises data centers and devices let companies manage the costs and security of their Kubernetes clusters themselves. Kubernetes can also be found outside of data centers for edge computing, IOT devices, and 5G networks. Kubernetes is literally everywhere. The demand for Kubernetes expertise at a premium as the leading platform for large clouds and small on-premises computing. Kubernetes Everywhere steps you through creating your own on-premises, professional-grade Kubernetes cluster. Along the way, you gain the knowledge to master features such as deployment methods, network setup, storage management, node autoscaling, authentication, and pod and cluster security. You learn ways to obtain Kubernetes certifications, find online resources for trying Kubernetes and participate in the Kubernetes project community. While the book points out quick-start ways of using Kubernetes, the main difference from other Kubernetes instructions is its focus on careful planning and understanding at each step in the process. You learn each topic at the point in the process where you would be setting it up in a real Kubernetes cluster.

Inverse Design Methods for the Built Environment - Xueyi You - Bog - Taylor & Francis Ltd - Plusbog.dk

Inverse Design Methods for the Built Environment - Xueyi You - Bog - Taylor & Francis Ltd - Plusbog.dk

The inverse design approach is new to the built environment research and design community, though it has been used in other industries including automobile and airplane design. This book, from some of the pioneers of inverse design applications in the built environment, introduces the basic principles of inverse design and the specific techniques that can be applied to built environment systems. The authors'' inverse design concept uses the desired enclosed environment as the design objective and inversely determines the systems required to achieve the objective. The book discusses a number of backward and forward methods for inverse design. Backward methods, such as the quasi-reversibility method, the pseudo-reversibility method, and the regularized inverse matrix method, can be used to identify contaminant sources in an enclosed environment. However, these methods cannot be used to inversely design a desired indoor environment. Forward methods, such as the computational-fluid-dynamics (CFD)-based genetic algorithm (GA) method, the CFD-based adjoint method, the CFD-based artificial neural network (ANN) method, and the CFD-based proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) method, show the promise in the inverse design of airflow and heat transfer in an enclosed environment. The book describes the fundamentals of the methods for beginners, provides exciting design examples for the reader to duplicate, discusses the pros and cons of each design method and points out the knowledge gaps for further development.

COVID-19 and Schools - - Bog - Taylor & Francis Ltd - Plusbog.dk

COVID-19 and Schools - - Bog - Taylor & Francis Ltd - Plusbog.dk

This book features contributions from leading experts who present peer reviewed research on how the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic affected U.S. teachers, students, parents, teaching practices, enrolments, and institutional innovations, offering the first empirical findings exploring educational impacts likely to last for decades. The COVID-19 pandemic presented the greatest crisis in the history of U.S. schooling, with America’s 50 states, thousands of school systems, and tens of thousands of private and charter schools responding in myriad ways. This book brings together peer reviewed, empirical research on how U.S. schools responded, and on the educational and health impacts likely to persist for many years. Contributors explore how the U.S. responses differed from those in other countries, with slower reopening, and both reopening and modes of instruction varying widely across states and school sectors. Compared to European countries, U.S. responses to reopening schools reflected political influences more than health or educational needs, though this was less true in market-based private and charter schools. The pandemic was a catalyst for school choice movements across the U.S. Many parents reacted to school closings by exploring alternatives to traditional public schools, including an important and likely permanent innovation, small, parent-created or “pod” schools. As the papers here detail, long term student learning loss and health and socioemotional impacts of COVID-19 closings may well last for decades. The volume concludes by exploring teacher experiences across different sectors following the pandemic. COVID-19 and Schools will be a key resource for academics, researchers, and advanced students of education, education policy and leadership, educational research, research methods, economics, sociology and psychology. The chapters included in this book were originally published as a special issue of Journal of School Choice.
