Quercus Ilex (Holm Oak / Evergreen Oak) - Multi-Stem - 200-250 cm / 6.6-8.2 ft

Quercus Ilex (Holm Oak / Evergreen Oak) - Multi-Stem - 200-250 cm / 6.6-8.2 ft

The Quercus Ilex, also known as the Holm Oak or Evergreen Oak, is a plant that is native originally to the Mediterranean region. The first of these plants were grown in England around 1803 and have been with us ever since. Due to its Mediterranean based nature, this plant only has a H4 in hardiness rating and thus is not at all going to be comfortable in more colder weather. Sheltering the plants when the temperature drops is advised. The plant is a standard green colour throughout the year and does not change. Maintenance on this plant is minimal and a once a year trim should do the trick. These plants actually are designed to be roof shaped and the growth habit will produce a nice bushy plant. Latin Name: Quercus Ilex English Name: Holm Oak, Evergreen Oak Species: Fagaceae Genus: Quercus Foliage Type: Evergreen Foliage: Green Flower: Inconspicuous with acorns Flowering Period: From May to June Suggested Uses: Hedge, Shade Tree, Street Tree Suggested Location: Outdoor. Suggested Soil Type: Well-Drained, moist but well drained. Clay, Chalk, Loam, Sand Suggested Exposure to Sunlight: Full Sunlight or Partial Shade. Suggested Exposure to Weather: Sheltered or Exposed. Hardiness Rating: Medium (H4) Lowest Temperature Tolerance: -10 °C to -5 °C (14 °F to 23 °F) Maintenance: Prune once a year Growth Habit: Bushy Eventual Spread: 8 m (26 ft) Final Height: 12 m (39 ft) Delivery Cost: This is calculated based on the total size, weight and quantity of your order, as well as the location of your delivery address. Weeping Deodar Cedar (Cedrus Deodara Pendula) - Roof Shape

Weeping Deodar Cedar (Cedrus Deodara Pendula) - Roof Shape

The drooping branches of these Cedar Trees have been trained to form a canopy. Using their bonsai skills, the expert growers here at GardenPlantsOnline have nurtured these Weeping Deodar Cedars since they were saplings. Using patience and dedication they have guided the trees' branches into an umbrella-shape. These trees are unique "showcase pieces" and will look beautiful next to a patio, party area, water feature or simply given plenty of open space to grow. Weeping Deodar Cedar are not as hardy as other Deodaras, but will still do well against all but the coldest winter nights. All conifers are known for their hardiness and resilience against the elements. We often think of them being heavily covered with snow during the winter, but they can look equally as bold and impressive against a bright blue summer sky. Conifers get their name from the "cones" that they produce – which come in all shapes and sizes. Conifer leaves are evergreen and will either be needle-shaped or scale-like. These large Cedar trees are chosen for their majestic drooping branches and rich greenery. Weeping Deodar Cedar look fantastic when used alone, as a showcase piece with lots of surrounding open space. As such, you can sometimes find them in large parks, providing shade to children who love to run and hide beneath their bouncy branches. They are fast growing and should be in a nice sunny spot with moist, but well-drained soil. All conifers are known for their hardiness and resilience against the elements. Ilex x Nellie R.Stevens (Holly) - Shrub - 200-250 cm / 6.6-8.2 ft

The Ilex x Nellie R.Stevens is a holly plant that is a cross between English holly ilex aquifolium and Chinese holly ilex cornuta. The plant itself with its beautiful glossy green leaves and red berries has always been traditionally seen in Europe and America as Christmas holly and used in some European countries to ward off evil spirits by hanging them above the doorway. The flowering period is April where it usually starts to blossom its small white flowers and during the Autumn-Winter period, the actual berries themselves start to form. It is a bushy plant with a fast growth speed. It does not requiring maintenance but a quick trim in the summer could help if the leaves get a bit too long. The hardiness of this plant at H6 is perfect for the British climate and only during the extreme cold do you need to shelter it. Be careful of pests and potentially the holly leaf disease with this plant. Be careful not to eat the berries, no matter how inviting they may seem, as they could cause potentially a minor stomach upset if ingested.
