In this book, the electron-phonon interactions in the charged molecular systems such as polyacenes, polyfluoroacenes, B, N-substituted polyacenes, and polycyanodienes are discussed. They estimated the electron-phonon coupling constants and the frequencies of the vibronic active modes playing an essential role in the electron-phonon interactions in order to discuss how CH-CF, CC-BN, and CC-CN substitutions are closely related to the essential characteristics of the electron-phonon interactions in these molecules by comparing the calculated results for charged polyacenes with those for charged B, N-substituted polyacenes and polycyanodienes, respectively. The C-C stretching modes around 1500 cm-1strongly couple to the highest occupied molecular orbitals (HOMO), and the lowest frequency modes and the C-C stretching modes around 1500 cm-1 strongly couple to the lowest unoccupied molecular orbitals (LUMO) in polyacenes. The C-C stretching modes around 1500 cm -1strongly couple to the HOMO and LUMO in polyfluoroacenes. The B-N stretching modes around 1500 cm -1 strongly couple to the HOMO and LUMO in B, N-substituted polyacenes. The C-C and C-N stretching modes around 1500 cm-1 strongly couple to the HOMO and LUMO in polycyanodienes. The total electron-phonon coupling constants for the monocations and monoanions decrease with an increase in molecular size in polyacenes, polyfluoroacenes, B, N-substituted polyacenes, and polycyanodienes. In general, we can expect that monocations and monoanions, in which number of carriers per atom is larger, affords larger value. The CH-CF, CC-BN, and CC-CN atomic substitutions are effective way to seek for larger values, and the CH-CF and CC-CN atomic substitutions are effective way to seek for larger values in polyacenes. The logarithmically averaged phonon frequencies which measure the frequencies of the vibronic active modes playing an essential role in the electron-phonon interactions for the monocations and monoanions in polyacenes, polyfluoroacenes, B, N-substituted polyacenes, and polycyanodienes are investigated. The values decrease with an increase in molecular size in polyacenes, polyfluoroacenes, and polycyanodienes, and the values decrease with an increase in molecular size in polyacenes, polyfluoroacenes, B, N-substituted polyacenes, and polycyanodienes. The authors can expect that in the hydrocarbon molecular systems, the values would basically decrease by substituting hydrogen atoms by heavier atoms. This can be understood from the fact that the frequencies of all vibronic active modes in polyacenes downshift by H-F substitution. However, considering that the value for the LUMO rather localised on carbon atoms in large sized polyfluoroacenes becomes larger by H-F substitution, the authors can expect that the value for a molecular orbital localised on carbon atoms has a possibility to increase by substituting hydrogen atoms by heavier atoms if the phase patterns of the molecular orbital do not significantly change by such atomic substitution. Therefore, the detailed properties of the vibrational modes and the electronic structures as well as the molecular weights are closely related to the frequencies of the vibronic active modes playing an important role in the electron-phonon interactions in the monoanions of polyfluoroacenes.

Since September 2001, the United States has been concerned with radical Islamist groups in Southeast Asia, particularly those in the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore that are known to have ties to the Al Qaeda terrorist network. Southeast Asia is a base for past, current, and possibly future Al Qaeda operations. For nearly fifteen years, Al Qaeda has penetrated the region by establishing local cells, training Southeast Asians in its camps in Afghanistan, and by financing and cooperating with indigenous radical Islamist groups. Indonesia and the southern Philippines have been particularly vulnerable to penetration by anti-American Islamic terrorist groups. Members of one indigenous network, Jemaah Islamiyah (JI), with extensive ties to Al Qaeda, are known to have helped two of the September 11 2001 hijackers and have confessed to plotting and carrying out attacks against Western targets. These include the deadliest terrorist attack since September 2001: the 12 October 2002 bombing in Bali, Indonesia, that killed approximately 200 people, mostly Westerners. On 9 September 2004, a suicide bombing attack thought to be the work of JI struck the Australian Embassy in Jakarta, killing 10 and wounding around 200. In October 2005, three suicide bombers exploded bombs within minutes of one another in Bali, killing more than 20 people. These attacks suggest that JI remains capable of carrying out relatively large-scale plots against Western targets, despite the arrest or death of hundreds of JI members, including most of its known leadership. To combat the threat, the Bush Administration has pressed countries in the region to arrest suspected terrorist individuals and organisations, deployed over 1,000 troops to the southern Philippines to advise the Philippine military in their fight against the violent Abu Sayyaf Group, launched a Regional Maritime Security Initiative to enhance security in the Straits of Malacca, increased intelligence sharing operations, restarted military-military relations with Indonesia (including restoring International Military Education and Training [IMET]), and provided or requested from Congress over $1 billion in aid to Indonesia and the Philippines. The responses of countries in the region to both the threat and to the U.S. reaction generally have varied with the intensity of their concerns about the threat to their own stability and domestic politics. In general, Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines were quick to crack down on militant groups and share intelligence with the United States and Australia, whereas Indonesia began to do so only after attacks or arrests revealed the severity of the threat to their citizens. That said, many governments view increased American pressure and military presence in their region with ambivalence because of the political sensitivity of the issue with both mainstream Islamic and secular nationalist groups. Indonesia and Malaysia are majority Muslim states while the Philippines and Thailand have sizeable, and historically alienated and separatist-minded, Muslim minorities.

In Leptons: Classes, Properties and Interactions, the authors develop a model to calculate the masses of charged leptons by quantifying the electrostatic field generated by these particles. This model is extended to weak and strong interactions in order to calculate the masses of all elementary fermions.Next, by taking the SU(2) group of weak interactions in the presence of Electric Charge Swap-symmetry as a starting point, this compilation show that ordinary and non-regular leptons are related by the ECS-rotational SO(3) group. By considering the ECS-Hamiltonian quaternions for leptons, the authors find that the SU(5) Grand Unified Theory originates from the image of normalized quaternions group N(Q8) under the ECS-rotations.The differential cross-section corresponding to a dispersion process in the context of the 331RHν model is calculated in order to use the results in terrestrial and astrophysical experiments. The differential cross-section is written in terms of the mass of the new gauge boson Z′, the mixing angle, the magnetic moment of the neutrino, and the charge radius.In closing, the authors obtain analytical expressions for the total cross section of the process e+e− τ+τ−γ in the context of the B-L model. The total cross section is analyzed in terms of themass of the new gauge boson Z′, the mixing angle θ′ of the B-L model, the magneticmoment and the electric dipole moment of the τ -lepton.

Congress passed the Intelligence Identities Protection Act, P.L.97-200 in 1982. The Act, as amended,1 is codified at 50USC §§ 421-426. Under 50USC § 421 criminal penalties are provided, in certain circumstances, for intentional, unauthorised disclosure of information identifying a covert agent, where those making such a disclosure know that the information disclosed identifies the covert agent as such and that the United States is taking affirmative measures to conceal the covert agent''s foreign intelligence relationship to the United States. Other sections of the Act provide exceptions and defences to prosecution, make provision for extraterritorial application of the offenses in section 421, include reporting requirements to Congress, and set forth definitions of the terms used in the Act. There do not appear to be any published cases involving prosecutions under this Act. In 1982, the Intelligence Identities Protection Act was enacted into law as an amendment to the National Security Act of 1947. This Act was a response to concerns of members of the House and Senate Intelligence Committees and others in Congress "about the systematic effort by a small group of Americans, including some former intelligence agency employees, to disclose the names of covert intelligence agents. This new book presents the text of the Act, its interpretation and the Court of Appeals case of closest to the issue of intelligent agents and disclosure of their identities -- Adele HALKIN, et al., v. Water, the most represented substance in the human body, is a trace of the primordial sea where life originated. Its virtues may be represented by the Venus of Botticelli coming out from the sea, as well as by Velasquez''s water seller and by Aristophanes'' chant of the clouds. Water has been connected with medicine from time immemorial and is a common good. For Sumerians, the physician was the man who new water. Homer''s (850-750 BC) mythical tradition made Ocean and Thetys progenitors of all gods and of the world. Hesiod (ca. 700 BC) chanted Poseidon, the sea-lake god, who could cause tempests and seaquakes, generate springs, and also confer the power to walk on water like on earth. In the last century, at the time of the cold war, the information was generated in Moscow about the discovery of polywater, a new form of water, which could be produced in tiny drops in very thin tubes. Astonishingly it boiled at 200 °C and had an initial freezing point of around -30 °C. Polywater was a case for concern among states because of its potential capability to pollute normal water. Finally it was demonstrated that it was just an artifact due to contamination. Jacques Benveniste, a French immunologist of good reputation came to the conclusion that water saved the memory, being imprinted like a cast. However stringent experiments performed at suggestion of the Editor, showed that water could not act as a template for its molecule.

In this book, the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations of the U.S. Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee examine issues of consumer privacy and security on the Internet and in the broader online economy. Central to this segment of the economy is the online advertising industry, which continues to grow in importance. In 2013, U.S. online advertising revenue for the first time surpassed that of broadcast television advertising as companies spent nearly $43 billion to reach consumers. The online advertising ecosystem is highly complex. Online advertisers do far more than merely disseminate text, graphic, or video advertisements. Underlying the work of online advertisers are sophisticated systems that are able to identify and target specific consumer groups with relevant advertising, as well as state-of-the art security practices to monitor the integrity of these ad delivery systems. The ability to target advertising is a key function of online ad delivery systems, and advertisers are willing to pay a premium of between 60 and 200 percent for these services. With the continuing boom in mobile devices, the importance, and complexity, of digital advertising is likely to continue increasing in years to come. The Subcommittee''s investigation focused on the features and vulnerabilities in the online advertising industry that invite malware attacks. The Subcommittee also sought to highlight the potential hazards to private consumer information which result from consumer visits to even mainstream websites. The Subcommittee surveyed Internet participants and interviewed representatives from major ad networks, ad exchanges, data brokers, self-regulatory bodies, the Federal Trade Commission, consumer protection groups, and other participants in the online advertising industry to identify the vulnerabilities that have led to significant hazards to consumer safety and loss of consumer privacy online.

House-keeping genes function independently by sensing various types of information from neighboring cells, and supporting the proliferation of cells behaving as cancerous cells so that the cells achieve a malignant, metastatic state. The CpG island-controlled genes (47,000/human haploid genome) and CpG island-independent genes (33,000/human haploid genome) co-regulate in the normal cell systems.FAD, FMN, riboflavin, and derivatives of heme groups are well known as photosensitizers, which emit 1O2 with ROS in the solution in vivo. In sunlight, photosensitizers will function as the generators of 1O2 and ROS. During the daytime, there is a plentiful supply of 1O2 and ROS from the sunlight, and which inevitably constitutes the circadian rhythms of ROS. The repeated evolution of 1O2 and ROS would function to stimulate the methylation of CpG islands.The tubulin structures, extending from the plasma membrane to two centrosomes and located along the sides of the nucleus, are designated as asters. In darkness, the protein complex of NDPK-1/catalase is located in the plasma membrane. However, upon receiving light illumination, the NDPK-1/catalase function captures 1O2 using catalase. The NDPK-1 binds NADH and supplies electrons to bind 1O2 that is bound to the catalase, resulting in the release of a super oxide (O2.-). The NDPK/catalase protein complex located in the plasma membrane moves along the aster-forming tubulin structure to the cytosol. As a result, the nucleus is protected from 1O2 by the wall, which is composed of the NDPK-1/catalase complex.

The hemodynamic effect of the atria on the net performance of the heart is called atrial contribution (AC). AC is either linked to ventricular filling or to the systolic function of the heart, i.e. to the systolic volume or cardiac output. Several noninvasive methods for the quantification of AC are described in literature but none of them are routinely used in cardiac pacing centres due to the time-consuming nature of the methods, the limited reproducibility of measured values and observer dependency. The aim of these studies was to develop a method for determining optimal AV delay in patients treated by dual chamber pacing using an index (ACSp) that quantifies atrial contribution to the systolic volume of the left ventricle. The new method is based on the quantitative analysis of a beat to beat decrease in the amplitude of the pulse oximetry signal (SpO2). The change in the amplitudes is induced by a sudden drop of the stimulus to the right atrium, while maintaining the rate of ventricular stimuli at a constant level. The obtained ACSp is given as a percentage of the pulse amplitude of SpO2. The method is independent of the observer, non-invasive and relatively fast. In a group of 47 patients, remarkable similarities between ACSp and another atrial contribution index estimated using the tracings of invasively registered aortal pressure were demonstrated. In all investigated AV intervals of 50 to 250 ms, significant inter-individual variability of ACSp was discovered. The poorest hemodynamic effect was seen at AV delay of 50 ms (median ACSp of 10.4 % from 97 subjects). In 150 subjects, the following values of ACSp were obtained at AV delay of 200 ms: median 30 %, minimum 3.6 % and maximum 80.4 %. An increase in ACSp follows reduction of preload induced by administration of furosemide. This suggests that when preload decreases cardiac output is preserved by an increase in AC enforced by sympathetic activation.
