Butia Capitata (Jelly Palm) - Extra - 300-350 cm / 9.8-11.5 ft

Butia Capitata Extra is a brilliant ornamental palm perfect for the British garden or indoors. The plant itself is native to South America, particularly Argentina and Brazil. Chusan Palm (Chamaerops Excelsa / Trachycarpus Fortunei) - 250-300 cm / 8.2-9.8 ft

Chusan Palm (Chamaerops Excelsa / Trachycarpus Fortunei) - 250-300 cm / 8.2-9.8 ft

Originating from Central China, Camaerops Excelsa is an interesting and exciting palm. Chamaerops Excelsa grow upwards with tall, thin trunks branching out to lush fan-shaped clusters of leaves. In summer, they will flower green if female or yellow if male. Because their natural habitat often sees them growing at altitudes of 2,400 meters, they are resistant to wind and rain. In order to reach its full potential in height (20 meters) and leaf-span, it must receive plenty of sunshine during the warmer months. Photinia Serrulata Red Robin – Cone - 250-300 cm / 8.2-9.8 ft

Photinia Serrulata Red Robin – Cone - 250-300 cm / 8.2-9.8 ft

The Photinia Serrulata, also known as Red Robin Tree or occasionally the Christmas Berry, is a group of evergreen shrubs grown specifically for glossy, dark green adult foliage, white flowers and brilliant red tinted young leaves; in the spring, they unfold to give a stunning display. The best known of the photinias is Photinia Red Robin, which is often planted as a specimen shrub or as a dense, evergreen hedge. A Christmas Berry Red Robin puts on a show all year round, with white springtime flowers and new leaves that start out as a vibrant red, before darkening to a glossy green as they age. These bright colours are popular with wildlife, but due to its loose branch structure, birds are unlikely to choose the Red Robin as a nesting location (which is ironic). Christmas Berry Red Robins are an excellent choice for creating interesting hedges and borders. Mexican Fan Palm / Skyduster (Washingtonia Robusta) - 250-300 cm / 8.2-9.8 ft

Mexican Fan Palm / Skyduster (Washingtonia Robusta) - 250-300 cm / 8.2-9.8 ft

There are two main commonly cultivated Washingtonia species: Washingtonia robusta ( Mexican palm, Skyduster, Petticoat Palm) and Washingtonia filifera (California fan palm). Washingtonia filifera differs from W. robusta by width of trunk, erectness of fronds, presence of strings on frond margins, gray-green color, and cold hardiness. The two species can also hybridise. Washingtonia filifera has fan-shaped greyish green fronds 1-2m across whose tips arch down. Its margins are more stringy than Washingtonia robusta. These palm trees look really attractive when old dead fronds are allowed to accumulate against the trunk giving it a shaggy appearance. The inflorescence on stalks extending beyond foliage bears small off-white flowers which produce tiny black berries. The tree is not very hardy at H1C so shelter during normal British winter. The plant itself is prone to potential pests but no diseases. Follow the guide below on how to maintain this plant. Product Dimensions 40-60 cm: 7-10 litre pot 60-80 cm: 10 litre pot 80-100 cm: 18-25 litre pot 100-125 cm: 30-35 litre pot 125-150 cm: 40-45 litre pot 150-175 cm: 55-65 litre pot 175-200 cm: 90-110 litre pot 200-250 cm: 110-130 litre pot 250-300 cm: 230-290 litre pot Latin Name: Washingtonia Robusta English Name: Mexican Fan Palm, Skyduster Species: Arecaceae Genus: Washingtonia Foliage Type: Evergreen Foliage: Green Flower: White (with brown fruit) Flowering Period: Spring - Summer Suggested Location: Outdoor. Weeping Goldcrest Cypress (Cupressus Macrocarpa Pubol Aurea Pendula) - 300-350 cm / 9.8-11.5 ft

A form of Cupressus Macrocarpa 'Goldcrest'. A compact, evergreen conifer with a striking golden-yellow colour. Originating from Monterey California on the west coast of America, this cypress tree has a natural resistance to salt water – making it a popular choice in seaside locations around Britain. Fast-growing, it is a versatile plant that can be used for hedging, windbreaks, or even trained into a topiary shape. The leaves  hold their colour all-year-round and emit a lovely lemon scent when trimmed or cut. All conifers are known for their hardiness and resilience against the elements. We often think of them being heavily covered with snow during the winter, but they can look equally as bold and impressive against a bright blue summer sky. Conifers get their name from the "cones" that they produce – which come in all shapes and sizes. Conifer leaves are evergreen and will either be needle-shaped or scale-like. Citrus x Sinensis (Orange Trees) - Half Standard - 260-300 (litres)

Citrus x Sinensis (Orange Trees) - Half Standard - 260-300 (litres)

Citrus × Sinensis, also known as the Citrus Aurantium (Sweet Orange Group), includes the commonly cultivated sweet oranges, including blood oranges and navel oranges. The origin of the original plant is obscure to history but it is believed to have originated in southern Asia, particularly South China and Vietnam. The plant starts to bloom from Spring until Autumn. Producing delightfully fragrant fruit and blossom, orange trees are an interesting way of bringing rich colour to your garden. Susceptible to frost, oranges can be kept indoors during the winter months but must be situated in an area with plenty of sun. Tolerant of most soil types, they need lots of watering when the surrounding soil is dry but be careful not to over-water. Pruning can be done to encourage further growth and increased fruition. It has a low tolerance to cold weather being only a H3 on the hardiness scale, therefore it is best to keep this plant in warmer conditions the best you can. Stick to pruning group 1 for guidance on how to maintain this plant. The plant is generally disease free but be careful of potential pests. It is very easy to maintain and requires little pruning - a couple of trims each year if necessary in April or mid-July will keep it in shape. Prunus Lusitanica Angustifolia is a bushy, evergreen shrub which has been widely used since Victorian times to create Italian style gardens. It has an exotic appearance with dense large dark green leaves that appear on dark red stems. Angustifolia has narrower leaves than the species with stalks and new twigs of a brighter red colour. Portuguese Laurel bears numerous racemes of scented white flowers in June, which produce red turning to black berries much loved by birds. Prunus Lusitanica Angustifolia is a frost hardy tree that does well in full sun but will thrive almost anywhere. It prefers acidic, permeable soil rich in organic matter. Once established it tolerates dry spells in summer although regular watering will result in richer and healthier foliage so continue watering in winter when the ground is not frozen. The Citrus Limonum, popularly known as Lemon Trees, are one of the most known plants to mankind for their ability to produce the delightful lemon fruit. The history of the origins of lemons is unknown although it is believed they were first grown in Assam, a region of northeast India, northern Burma or even China. Lemons and their associated trees started to enter Europe during the time of Ancient Rome, but they were not widely cultivated. The first major cultivation of these plants only started to take shape in Europe during the middle of the 15th century in Genoa, Italy. The most famous story of lemons though is of course Scottish doctor James Lind’s experiments on using vitamin C from lemons on seamen suffering from scurvy, hence the popular British nickname overseas as “Limey”. Our version of the lemon trees is now in Espalier fashion. Citrus are self fertile so once you have planted, a single plant should be able to produce fruit. The plant itself likes a lot of sunlight so feel free to let it grow outdoors during pleasant weather. However, bear in mind that the plant has a very low tolerance to cold and only comes up as H1c on the rating score, so make sure to keep some fleece or anything else you have at hand to keep the plant warm if the temperature suddenly drops at night time. It can be a good idea for year long growth to have an insulation room in your house with a strong UV light to help continue growing the plant. For maintenance, minimal pruning is required. Mature plants though may produce unwanted, fast growing shoots called “water shoots”. Remove these whenever possible. Be especially watchful for shoots below the graft of the main stem and remove such shoots immediately. Pests and disease can also be a problem with this plant so do take care. Ilex Crenata Kinme Japanese Style - 250-300 cm / 8.2-9.8 ft

Ilex Crenata Kinme Japanese Style - 250-300 cm / 8.2-9.8 ft

Beautifully shaped over many years, this collection of Japanese-style bonsai will leave your guests speechless. Japanese Holly Bonsai Trees are a popular choice because of their dense foliage and their ability to change colour based on exposure to the sun. Over time, leaves at the top of its bundles become golden-yellow, where as those lower down retain their dark green colour because of the shade they receive. Japanese Holly Bonsai Trees also produce very small flowers and berries during the summer. Our Premium Bonsai Plants have been specially sculpted to form distinctive shapes. This growth-training is a process that can take over 30 years to create trees of this size. This care and attention becomes entwined with the plant itself – giving them a genuine “wow factor” and making them a favourite talking point with everyone who sees them. A Premium Bonsai Plant can help to create an atmosphere of luxury, sophistication and dedication in your garden, workplace, office atrium or shopping centre. Traditionally described as “unique”, this is no longer entirely true – thanks to the expert growers here at GardenPlantsOnline, it is now possible to produce bonsai plants with similar shapes by seeding them at the same time and growing them under the same conditions. Punica Granatum (Pomegranate Tree) - Shrub - 300-350 cm / 9.8-11.5 ft

Punica Granatum (Pomegranate Tree) - Shrub - 300-350 cm / 9.8-11.5 ft

The Pomegranate (Punica Granatum) is a small deciduous tree cultivated as a fruit crop in warmer climates, especially the Mediterranean, but in the UK is grown as ornamental shrubs or Specimen Trees in parks and gardens. Mature specimens of pomegranate tree can develop distinctive overall shape which is almost sculptural in form with twisted trunk, irregularly ridged and furrowed bark and thin, stiff, greyish brown twigs which often have a thorny tip.Punica granatum has glossy, leathery leaves that are narrow and lance shaped, 37 cm long and 2 cm broad. In most places they are deciduous, but in the warmer climates may be evergreen. The pomegranate tree is worth growing for the flowers alone as it produces attractive bright red tube shaped flowers over 1″ long and about 3cm in diameter with four to five petals (or more in some cultivars). The flowers are self-pollinating, though cross pollination increases fertility. The edible pomegranate fruit is a rounded hexagonal berry 2.5-5″ wide covered by a thick red, yellow or orange rind. Each fruit contains from 200 to 1400 seeds varying in colour from white to deep red or purple and sectioned off by a white astringent pulp. Each seed is enclosed in a juice filled sack. This plant needs plenty of natural sunlight although it has a slightly medium hardiness rating of H3, making it essential to only grow your plants during the summer time and to cover them up by winter. Stick to the guidelines of pruning group 1 and 13. Try to give this plant a once year trim and follow the guidelines of pruning group 1 for further ideas. The plant is generally pest and disease free. Topiary Column (Ligustrum Jonandrum) - 300 cm / 9.8 ft

Topiary Column (Ligustrum Jonandrum) - 300 cm / 9.8 ft

This stunning topiary is made from clipped Ligustrum Jonandrum. The Privet, also known as the Ligustrum, starts its tale from Asia, eventually extending into Australia and Europe. The actual plant is used as a street tree in Europe and has an interesting history in that it became very popular as a street ornament in Britain during WWII when the government started to requisition post-1850 iron gates and railings to be turned into ammunition for the war effort. The plant itself is semi-evergreen and is a very bushy shrub although this variant grows into a lovely lollipop shape hence its other name, ‘Lollipop Privet’. It produces abundant creamy white flowers with a rather unusual scent in late summer and small, black berries in autumn. It needs regular watering three times a week. The Hardiness rating is H6, meaning that it is perfect for the UK climate. Privet grows rapidly and needs clipping every two to three weeks in the summer months. Growth slows down and stops in September, after which the shrub will retain its shape until next spring. All parts of the plant are toxic and may cause severe discomfort if eaten. The soil needs to be well drained and a full sun or partial shade is recommended.
