How to Design and Write Web Pages Today - Karl Stolley - Bog - Bloomsbury Publishing Plc - Plusbog.dk

This unique guidebook lays the foundations of contemporary mobile-first, responsive web design, offering writers, designers, and those who teach them a complete and up-to-date approach to web design. Are you looking to learn web design the right way? Not by using an off-the-shelf software package, but by creating customized sites in a way that gives you full control? This guide provides that ability even if you have no previous coding skills or experience. One of the critical challenges of modern web design is being able to write for the mobile web to reach those increasingly mobile-connected users. How to Design and Write Web Pages Today addresses this key objective while also explaining how to deliver improved experiences for users of desktop-style devices based on the constraints and challenges of mobile design. This user-friendly tutorial begins with background information to enable a better understanding of the web and its purpose and function as well as how to generate material for a website. Readers then learn about the three overarching concerns in the short- and long-term viability and usefulness of websites: accessibility, usability, and sustainability. Key technologies and techniques for web design—such as the HTML and CSS languages to the conceptual foundations of grid-based design—are next, followed by a thorough explanation of how to publish a site on the open web, from creating a viable site architecture to automating the publishing of content to the open web.

An Introduction to Emergency Exercise Design and Evaluation - Robert Mccreight - Bog - Bloomsbury Publishing Plc - Plusbog.dk

The fourth edition of An Introduction to Emergency Exercise Design and Evaluation is designed to help practitioners and students of emergency management understand various aspects of the exercise design process. It provides a unique perspective since it is the first edition published since the COVID-19 pandemic. It arrives in 2023 looking back almost four years on the issues and challenges emergency managers faced on the threshold of a new decade in 2020. Since then, the country has faced the COVID pandemic along with at least twenty-four weather related disasters that killed and injured hundreds. Emergency exercises are an important component of an organization''s emergency planning and preparedness, yet few emergency managers and practitioners have training in designing or evaluating them. In this updated and practical handbook, the author explains the essential elements and core principles of exercise design and evaluation. This fourth edition of An Introduction to Emergency Exercise Design and Evaluation focuses on natural disasters and technological emergencies that occur in communities of any size. It provides emergency planners, public health professionals, emergency managers, police officers, and fire fighters with an in-depth look at exercise design issues and an accessible guide to designing and evaluating emergency exercises. This edition includes a new material on what to expect in emergency management through 2030.

Todd Howard - Wendi (texas Christian University Sierra - Bog - Bloomsbury Publishing Plc - Plusbog.dk

The newest addition to our Influential Video Game Designers series explores the work of Todd Howard, executive producer at Bethesda Studios, known for how he consistently pushes the boundaries of open-world gaming and player agency. Howard’s games create worlds in which players can design their own characters and tell their own stories. While many games tell the story of the game’s main character, Todd Howard’s worldbuilding approach to game design focuses more on telling the story of the game’s world, whether it be the high fantasy environments of the Elder Scrolls series or the post-apocalyptic wasteland of the Fallout series. This focus on sculpting the world allows for remarkable amounts of player freedom and choice in an expansive game environment by creating a landscape rich with open opportunity. Drawing on both academic discussions of narrative, world design, and game design, as well as on officially released interviews, speeches, and presentations given by Howard and other designers at Bethesda Games, Wendi Sierra highlights three core areas set Howard’s design perspective apart from other designers: micronarratives, iterative design, and the sharing of design tools. Taken as a whole, these three elements demonstrate how Howard has used a worldbuilding perspective to shape his games. In doing so, he has impacted not only Bethesda Studios, but also the landscape of game design itself.
