The Survivalists is an action adventure game with strategic and survival elements. In this production, we try to survive on a threatening, deserted island - and we can do it alone or in the company of a few friends. The title was developed and published by the well-known Team17 studio - industry veterans responsible, among others for such hits from the 90s as Alien Breed or Worms. The Survivalists takes place in the world known from the series The Escapists. Players take on the role of survivors who are stuck on a dangerous, desert island. In The Survivalists, we observe the action from above, from the so-called top-down perspective. The fun consists in exploring the two-dimensional game environment, collecting and creating items, hunting animals and mythical beasts, as well as performing various types of tasks - the latter come from a character called Mysterious Stranger or we find them on the seashore. It is worth noting that the locations are randomly generated, so the gameplay looks a bit different each time. On the island you can also find a wide variety of different places - incl. forests, mountains or dungeons. The crafting system plays an important role in Team17 - we can create both simple items (e.g. improvised weapons) and more advanced things (shelters, buildings). The monkeys that we find on the island can help us in work (but also in combat) - provided that we train them properly in advance. This solution adds a bit more strategic depth to the game. While playing, we can also explore ancient temples that can be found on the map. There are very valuable treasures waiting inside, but getting them will not be an easy task. The game is the debut project of the 3-person Unicube studio, realized thanks to the support of the crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. The publisher's duties were assumed by the well-known, among others from the Worms series, Team 17, as part of its own support program for independent authors. Story The plot of the game presents a grim vision of the world after a nuclear catastrophe. People hiding in underground shelters suffer from limited resources of food and water, and any going outside may end up with death at the hands of hungry, mutant beasts or other people - ready to do almost anything to survive. In addition, prolonged isolation does not have the best effect on the psyche, arousing a feeling of loneliness in a person, increasing fear, suspicion and a tendency to violent reactions. In such circumstances, the main character of the game has to take care of a family of four, trying to ensure its safety and take care of basic life needs.
