Abe's Oddysee is an innovative side-scroll platform game that combines typical elements of the genre with a rich world and adventure and logic elements. The game was developed by Oddworld Inhabitants studio, founded in 1994 by two specialists in computer animation and special effects. Story The action of the game takes place on an unknown planet inhabited by Mudokons. One of them is the title character, Abe. His race was enslaved by the evil Gluccons and forced to work in inhuman conditions in mines and quarries. One day, Abe, working at the meat factory RuptureFarms, learns about the Gluccons' new plans for slaves. All of them are to be turned into meat and become a new product sold by Glukkonów. The terrified protagonist decides to run away and free the remaining friends, and thus save them from the impending danger. Gameplay Abe's Oddysee is a side-scrolled platformer in which, in addition to purely arcade elements, such as jumping and climbing, there are also extensive sections that require stealth and puzzle solving. A unique feature of the production is Abe's ability to communicate with his companions, who can give them simple commands in a fictional, funny language. Additionally, the Mudokon has the power to possess and take control of the enemies he encounters. This is the only way to get, for example, a firearm that can be used to eliminate guards. This ability, however, has a limited range of action, which forces Abe's steps to be guided by appropriate planning of movements at subsequent levels.
